In 1906, Carolyn Hough Arms founded Scroll, the Holton-Arms School literary club. Over the past 119 years, Scroll has sought to refine and develop the literary talents of Holton students. During the club's meetings, writers practice their creative writing and storytelling through a combination of freewrites and prompt responses. This writing is then compiled into the school literary-arts magazine. What began as a mimeographed handout has become a full-color production. Scroll editors work tirelessly to exhibit students' creativity by juxtaposing their artistic creations with written works. This website, Scrolling, was created to display magazine pages, as well as additional writing and other art forms that cannot be displayed in a printed magazine, such as fashion design and live performances. Scrolling also features commentary from artists explaining their creative processes and the meaning behind their works.
Scrolling would not be possible without the hard work of Ms. Salata, Mrs. Maybee, Mrs. Gouldman, Mr. Robertson, and, of course, our dedicated team of students. If you enjoy looking through Scrolling, make sure to check out Scroll by clicking the image below!
