Art has become my way of slowing down and tuning in. In Holton’s pressure filled academic setting, creating art gives me space to process and express ideas that don’t always fit into words. Whether through charcoal drawing, oil, or watercolor, I use visual storytelling to explore personal connections, emotions, and the environments that shape my life.
Perhaps even more significant than the class itself, the studio space and my fellow classmates form an intimate community that I find myself lingering in past class time, frequently getting school work done in the art hallway. The studio has become more than a workspace—it’s a second home. The sense of community there, combined with the freedom to create without judgment, has shaped not only my growth as an artist but also as a person. Art continues to be the place where I feel most present, most honest, and most myself.
The portfolio below features some of my favorite works from the past four years. I particularly enjoy playing with color to evoke emotion, often by beginning with a bright under painting that carries through the entire composition. I almost exclusively depict people or spaces that I am intimate with as a way to communicate my inner world and express what matters most to me through a visual language.
